Introducing Organic Flavor Extracts

There are some products that I have been using in my kitchen for the last year that I absolutely LOVE!  In fact, they’ve recently migrated from my kitchen to my formulating room, and worked themselves into some of the products that we offer.  A while ago one of my suppliers who has been adopted as family, gave me some amazing fruit extracts, and asked me to try them out and see what I could do with them.  I’m always looking for ways to add unique flavors in unexpected places, and make delicious food taste even better.  My whole family has had a blast using these incredible products.  They smell and taste incredibly “REAL” - nothing fake about them at all.  At first I had a hard time imagining how they could be so delicious, and still be totally natural.  Seemed almost too good to be true!


It was time to do some research and understand how these amazing flavors were made. I discovered that the difference between an essential oil and a flavor extract is in the manufacturing process.  Essential oils are generally distilled, and flavor extracts are made with a CO2 cold process. Carbon Dioxide is injected into the organic plant matter, forcing all the moisture out of the plant.  This liquid is then highly concentrated and becomes an extract.  Incidentally, extracts are water and oil soluble, and essential oils are oil soluble.  All of these extracts are completely free of alcohol, wheat, gluten, and glycerin and are not diluted or “stretched” in any way.  And best of all, they are totally “clean” as they meet EU Organic standards, which are more stringent than our US Organic requirements.  


We’ve all heard of the amazing multi-faceted benefits of essential oils and their many uses for the body. A Few Delicious Ways To Use Flavor Extracts

It’s easy to get creative with these unique and delightful extracts, the possibilities are endless! Try adding Dark Chocolate to a nut milk or coconut shake. Or make you own cherry vanilla lip balm from melted Beeswax, Cocoa Butter, Coconut Oil, Cherry and Vanilla Extract. Peach and Passion fruit are lovely on the skin and in smoothies too.  Banana is incredible in Zucchini Bread.  We make a quick gourmet breakfast cereal by adding a few drops of Golden Apple, Cinnamon, Vanilla and Walnut Extracts to our oatmeal, try adding some fresh chopped apple, raisins and a few walnuts for an even tastier treat. Want a guilt free soda?  Any of these flavor extracts can be added to carbonated water  (or plain water too) with a little Stevia, and calorie free soda is yours! Flavor anything from shaved ice, tea, coffee drinks, bubble tea, ice cream, cheesecake, breads, puddings, nut milks, desserts, smoothies and more.

Raw Super Food Tropical Smoothie or Pudding

1 young coconut, all meat and water

1 mango, peeled and removed from pit

3 frozen bananas

1 c. frozen raspberries (optional)

2 drops Medicine Flower Vanilla Extract

4 drops Medicine Flower Mango Extract

2 drops Medicine Flower Banana Fruit Extract

2 drops Medicine Flower Coconut Fruit Extract

2 drops Medicine Flower Pineapple Fruit Extract

1/4 cup ground or soaked Chia Seeds

Pinch Himalayan Salt

In high-speed blender like a vita mix or similar machine, mix all ingredients, saving chia seeds for last. Blend until very creamy. It will start to thicken quickly. If you prefer a pudding, add more ground chia seeds as needed to thicken to proper consistency. 


Chocolate Banana Smoothie

2 frozen bananas

1 c. walnuts or almonds

3 c. water

1 TBSP Raw Cacao Powder (raw chocolate)

Agave or Stevia to taste

6 drops Medicine Flower Vanilla Extract

3 drops Medicine Flower Banana Fruit Extract

3 drops Medicine Flower Dark Chocolate Fruit Extract

Pinch Himalayan Salt

In high-speed blender like a vita mix or similar machine, mix all ingredients. Blend until very creamy. Add water as desired.


Blueberry Milkshake

1 c. walnut or almond milk

1 c. ice

6 pitted dates

5 to 10 drops Stevia to taste

6 drops Medicine Flower Blueberry Extract

Pinch Himalayan Salt

In high-speed blender like a vita mix or similar machine, mix all ingredients. Blend until smooth.


Coconut Flour Banana-Free Nut Bread

Low carb, gluten free, high protein treat

8 organic free range eggs or egg substitute

½ c. coconut oil or butter, melted

¾ c. milk – coconut or nut milk

2 tsp. stevia or ½ to ¾ c. agave

10 drops Medicine Flower Vanilla Extract

20 drops Medicine Flower Banana Extract

½ tsp. Himalayan Salt

2/3 c. coconut flour

1 tsp. baking powder

½ c. walnuts, chopped

Blend together eggs, oil, milk, sweetener, vanilla, banana extract, and salt. Combine coconut flour with baking powder and whisk thoroughly into batter until there are no lumps. Fold in nuts. Pour into greased 9x5x3-inch loaf pan and bake at 350 degrees F (175 C) for 60 minutes. Remove from pan and cool on rack.
