The late Dr. Batmanghelidj’s work presents the world’s best explanation on the relationship between the consumption of water and salt, and states of health or disease in the human body. In his famous book "Your Body's Many Cries for water." he explains the relationship between the consumption of water and salt and states of health or disease in the human body. He demonstrates that most common diseases (for which there are a variety of names such as asthma, arthritis, hypertension and so on) are really just names given to patterns of symptoms created by the body's drought management system. When the human body begins to get dehydrated, it seeks ways to conserve water. The symptoms characterized by this effort are given disease names by conventional medicine and then treated with toxic prescription drugs. Here's an example: the brain must be remain hydrated at all times. When the body is lacking water or the salt required to balance water levels, it will do everything possible to retain adequate water levels to the brain. This involves limiting water loss in other areas of the body. Simply breathing causes the loss of a significant quantity of water each day. If you are experiencing chronic dehydration from not drinking enough water or not getting enough salt; or from drinking waterdepleting drinks such as coffee, beer or beverages containing sugar, your body tries to prevent respiratory water loss by producing histamines which close off the capillaries in your lungs. Through the constriction of these capillaries, water loss is reduced, but of course breathing is made far more difficult. It's important to understand that the body is doing this on purpose. The body is producing histamines as a strategy, not as a disease or something gone awry. The body constricts the capillaries in your lungs because it is trying to save your brain! What asthma sufferers really need is lots of water balanced with the appropriate amount of salt on a regular basis, not antihistamines! The same sort of destructive cycle is taking place with other diseases as well -- most notably hypertension and arthritis. Many of the prescription drugs today are, in effect, various forms of histamines which counteract the body's efforts to conserve water. What we need to be doing as a population, of course, is simply drinking more water! But there's more to it than just that - we also need to use an adequate amount of the right kind of salt to balance out the water we drink. Dr. Batmanghelidj recommends 1/4 teaspoon of salt to every quart of water consumed. An easy way to do this is to put a bit of salt on your tongue before drinking water. One of the most bio-available forms of salt is Full Spectrum Life Himalayan Crystal Salt. Without adequate salt, the cells are not able to absorb the water available to them. Cells need minute quantities of salt in order to absorb and sustain proper intracellular fluid levels. Salt acts like a magnet, drawing and attracting fluid into the cells. Lack of adequate water or salt dehydrates the body and pushes it into a stressed state, making it vulnerable to disease. The simplest cure for a wide variety of diseases, is the wise and intelligent use of two of the most ancient elements on the planet - water and salt. |
