Full Spectrum Crystal Salt Lamps and Your Environment
By Tanya Stegmeier
Full Spectrum Salt Lamps are handmade with uniquely shaped Himalayan salt crystal rocks, with no crystal being exactly alike. Explosives and standard mining methods cannot be used when mining salt crystal rock; each rock must be hand crafted to retain its original structure. This means that every salt lamp is different in size, shape, colour and intensity, and each one is unique piece of art.
Full Spectrum Life Salt Crystal rocks are hollowed out and attached to a rosewood base which contains a standard night light bulb and a cord. The resulting lamp varies in color from light pink to orange and gives off negative ions, as well as a gentle low light. These negative ions neutralize positively charged ions given out by computers, televisions, power grids etc. Negatively charged ions create an environment that is similar to being near the sea or a waterfall and are what give the air in these areas that fresh feeling. The salt lamps should be lit at all times as the heat from the light bulb accelerates the release of negatively charged ions.
Modern life is stressful on the body. Many of us are becoming increasingly vigilant in investigating the quality of the water and food we ingest. In the same fashion, we need to remember that the quality of the air we breathe is extremely important to health and wellness. It is said we breathe in over 80 kilos of air each day. That is the equivalent of an Olympic sized swimming pool! It stands to reason that we should be concerned about the quality of this large amount of air.
Air quality is extremely important to our health and happiness. Some call negative ions "The Vitamins of the Air”. By using Salt Crystal lamps, we can easily improve our environment, not only through the ionizing effects of the lamp but through the beautiful light these lamps cast in a room! By the neutralization of positive ions and harmful electromagnetic field frequencies (electronic smog), the salt lamps allow the human energy field to move toward balance through the harmonizing energy vibration of the crystal. This promotes relaxation, concentration, strengthens the immune system, as well as the organ systems - the heart, the adrenals, including the thyroid. Due to antioxidant properties of these beautiful crystals, free radicals (known to be a cause of cancer) are reduced.
With a unique natural orange-rose-red color spectrum, our crystal salt lamps provide natural color therapy. Research has demonstrated that the most beneficial wavelengths are from 605 up to 700 nanometers. Full Spectrum Crystal Salt Lamps represents this range, which is the same natural visible color wavelengths of the sunrise and the sunset!
Full Spectrum Crystal Salt Lamps also have an effect on people that is difficult to measure. Many people are drawn to them; even animals like to be near them. Full Spectrum Life Crystal Salt Lamps enhance goodwill, lighten energy, stabilize mood swings, and diminish negativity. Some have found them to be a catalyst for meditation. Children who have difficulties related to ADHD etc generally are much calmer when these lamps are in their environment. Many people, young and old alike, enjoy them for the calming feelings they evoke. Besides the color energy properties, they may assist in regenerative growth and dispel depression. Overall, these crystals promote a more peaceful and balanced atmosphere in any space.
Some good places to use Full Spectrum Salt Lamps are near a TV or computer, in spaces dedicated to promoting health, meditation areas, classrooms, offices, or air-conditioned rooms.
Great places for Full Spectrum Himalayan Crystal Salt Lamps
Although Full Spectrum Salt Lamps are not medical devices, they are often used in the treatment of many ailments due to the negative ions they release. Often holistic health practitioners recommend Salt Crystal Lamps to aid in the treatment of health conditions such as the following:
It is important to note, salt lamps will absorb humidity and may deposit salt if they are not properly cared for. So keep your lamp turned on as much as possible to release any excess moisture, and cover your lamp with a plastic bag if you will not be using it.
Color Therapy and Salt Lamps
The variety of color in Full Spectrum Crystal Salt Lamps is the result of iron and copper in the salt. These naturally occurring elements can produce colours ranging from yellow to peach to orange to red. You can also achieve certain colours using tinted light bulbs.
Red is the lowest of the seven colours in the visible spectrum and is known as a "warm" colour. It is stimulating and energising; therefore, it is helpful for tiredness and lethargy, to stimulate low blood pressure and to boost sluggish circulation.
On the psycho-spiritual level, orange relates to self respect. That is to say, having the ability to give ourselves the freedom to be ourselves and to respect our own boundaries and requirements and by the same token, having respect for the boundaries of others. Orange is the colour of creativity and we should give ourselves the space to have creative time just for us.
On the psycho-spiritual level, yellow relates to self worth. How we feel about ourselves and how we feel others perceive us. This is the area of the personality, the ego and the intellect and of self confidence.
Yellow is one of the three colours in the lower half of the visible spectrum. It is known as a "warm" colour and has a stimulating effect. It is the colour of the intellect and can be very helpful with study and where concentration is required.
Green is a balancing colour, in the middle of the visible spectrum. The higher three colours are known as the "cool" colours and are calming in effect; the lower three are known as the "warm" colours and have a stimulating effect. Green is the balance between these two.
When a therapist comes to the end of a colour therapy treatment, he/she will use green as a balancing colour at the end of a treatment.
Green is the colour of balance and harmony and can therefore be helpful in times of stress.
A tinted light bulb will need to be used to achieve a green effect.
I noticed that I feel calmer when I am around my salt lamp. It seems to take the stress away!
